Comando G, Pena La Mora 1er Cru Tinto, 2022
is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Peña La Mora is one of the crown jewels in the Comando G lineup—an old-vine, high-altitude parcel in the rugged Sierra de Gredos that consistently delivers Garnacha with jaw-dropping precision. At over 1,000 meters elevation on granitic soils, this site gives fruit with natural lift, firm structure, and a transparency rarely seen in Mediterranean reds.
The 2022 vintage continues the estate’s trajectory of refinement: it’s perfumed with wild strawberry, blood orange, and crushed herbs, underscored by granite dust and rose petal. Fermented with whole clusters and aged in large neutral oak, it floats across the palate with fine, silken tannins and electric tension. There’s intensity, yes—but also restraint and mineral cut, more Chambolle than Châteauneuf.
This is Garnacha redefined: not broad or ripe, but taut, vertical, and deeply expressive of place. Serve with care, decant gently, and pair with dishes that mirror its finesse—like roast quail, mushroom risotto, or simply grilled vegetables.
