From dry-farmed bush vines rooted in the granitic soils of the Swartland, David & Nadia’s Grenache is a wine of restraint, detail, and quiet energy. The 2022 vintage captures everything that makes their work special: minimal intervention, thoughtful farming, and a deep respect for site over style.

It opens with red cherry, dried rose, and warm spice, followed by a palate that’s lithe and layered—more about structure and minerality than overt fruit. There’s a savory, almost herbal edge that recalls top-flight Southern Rhône, but the texture is silkier, more transparent, and refreshingly light on its feet. Whole bunch fermentation adds lift and fine tannins, while aging in old oak keeps the frame elegant and pure.

Perfect with roast poultry, grilled vegetables, or simply on its own with a slight chill. For lovers of Pinot Noir, Cru Beaujolais, or Grenache in the style of Reynaud and Fonsalette, this is a bottle that overdelivers in every way.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 91
"The 2022 Grenache Noir comes from five parcels on granitic soils, made using 60% whole bunches between 3 and 5 weeks on the skin, matured in concrete vats and 500-liter used oak barrels. It has a lively bouquet with red cherries, cranberry, rosemary and thyme, and touches of earthenware. The medium-bodied palate has sappy red fruit, gentle grip and a keen line of acidity with sour cherry, crushed strawberry and earthy notes towards the finish. Drink over the next decade." -Neal Martin

Robert Parker

"Beginning with a floral and red-fruited nose, the 2022 Grenache Noir offers notes of raspberry and dusty plum with a delightful floral lift from whole cluster. Medium-bodied, the palate is succulent and fresh, offering a lingering tannic edge before a soft herbal flavor creeps into the long, red-fruited finish. There’s a touch of reduction on the aftertaste." -Anthony Mueller
