Pierre-Marie Chermette of Domaine du Vissoux is one of Beaujolais’ most respected vignerons, crafting expressive, terroir-driven wines with minimal intervention. His Saint-Amour Les Champs-Grillés comes from one of the northernmost crus, where granite and clay soils lend both elegance and structure to Gamay. The 2023 vintage, marked by a balance of ripeness and bright acidity, delivers a beautifully lifted and supple wine.
Wild strawberry, raspberry, and crushed violets lead, backed by hints of white pepper and a subtle earthiness. The palate is fresh and silky, with fine tannins and a mineral streak that keeps it lively. Though delicious with a slight chill now, this Saint-Amour also has enough structure to evolve over the next few years. A perfect match for charcuterie, roast chicken, or simply a long evening with good company.
