Domaine Moulin-Tacussel, Chateauneuf-du-Pape Rouge, 2015
is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Domaine Moulin-Tacussel may fly under the radar, but it's one of Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s most quietly consistent traditional producers. Farming eight hectares of old vines, the domaine blends Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and other Rhône varieties in a style that favors balance over power. The wines see long aging in a mix of foudres and demi-muids, with minimal new oak and no excess extraction.
The 2015 vintage was warm and generous, and in Moulin-Tacussel’s hands, it yielded a wine of ripe fruit, savory garrigue, and firm, well-integrated tannins. Now with nearly a decade of bottle age, the wine is entering a beautiful phase—layered with dried cherry, leather, black olive, and herbal spice, with a long, evolving finish. It’s still got structure, but the edges are softening, and the complexity is deepening.
Ideal with roasted meats, game, or aged cheeses. For fans of classic, age-worthy Southern Rhône reds that lean traditional rather than modern, Moulin-Tacussel 2015 is a beautiful and underrated bottle that’s drinking beautifully now—or still has years to go.
