“Parcela Seoane” is a tiny, high-altitude vineyard site in Ribeira Sacra, where Envínate co-ferments old-vine Mencía and native companions from steep, slate-heavy slopes. This parcel consistently yields one of the lightest, most perfumed, and mineral expressions in the Lousas range—less structure than Doad, less density than Rosende, but unmatched in floral lift and aromatic grace.

The 2023 vintage is a textbook year for their style: red currant, crushed violets, wild herbs, and wet slate, with ultra-fine tannins and racing acidity. There’s a whisper of whole-cluster spice, but the overall impression is airy and seamless. It’s a wine of tension and purity—somewhere between Cru Beaujolais and alpine Jura red, but unmistakably Galician.

Serve it slightly chilled, pair it with grilled vegetables, seafood stews, or herby pork dishes, and don’t be afraid to pour generously—it disappears fast.

Just a couple of years ago the wines of Envinate were very, very off the radar. Like everything in the world of delicious, naturally made wines, that has changed! Now we eagerly anticipate the next release, get just a case or less of each cuvée, and then watch them disappear in the blink of an eye.

For those unfamiliar, the group of four friends behind the project have nailed a locals' perspective on growing areas that the world is just coming to appreciate. Between Ribeira Sacra and the Canary Islands, they bottle clear expressions of the vineyards with which they work. Having started Envinate as a consultancy while in enology school, the friends set out to enrich the communities within these historically neglected areas. By splitting up and living in each of these regions, they have been able to foster relationships with older generations of growers and farmers allowing them to identify the best vineyard sites with a collective understanding beyond their experience.

With a strong technical education, The Four craft wines of precision and clarity. Never manipulated, never doctored, and a lack of chemicals in the vineyard, these wines are liquid art, a purists expression of terrior. They honor not only the region from which they come, but also the local stewards who have cared for these vineyards, often for generations.

"The 2023 Lousas Parcela Seoane is very primary and undeveloped, with some notes of honey and beeswax, from a year when the wines show their character in a clearer way than in 2022. It's a cooler, more Atlantic vintage with more rain that takes the wines back to the character from before, cooler vintages like 2014, which are a rarity now. This is the ripest of the 2023 vintage, with some 13.5% alcohol. It was vinified with 100% full clusters and 40 days of maceration, and it is currently aging in oak barrels of different sizes. There will be some 2,000 bottles of this, which should be bottled in November 2024." -Luis Gutiérrez
