If you’re into Pinot with energy, lift, and a splash of sea breeze, this one’s calling. Failla’s Estate Pinot comes from their own vineyard way up in the Fort Ross-Seaview AVA—a wild, foggy corner of the Sonoma Coast where the vines cling to ridges above the Pacific.

The 2022 vintage is classic coastal Pinot: vibrant red berries, crushed herbs, rose petals, and that cool, salty edge that only comes from high-altitude, ocean-facing vines. It’s super aromatic, silky in texture, and laced with just enough savory spice to keep things interesting.

Winemaker Ehren Jordan (who cut his teeth with Turley and Neyers) keeps the winemaking low-intervention—native yeasts, whole cluster, neutral oak—so the wine stays transparent, fresh, and totally alive in the glass.

This is West Sonoma Pinot with serious style but zero pretense. Drink it with roast salmon, mushroom pasta, or just pour a glass and let the bottle disappear slowly over a cozy night in.

If you're looking for a laid back and lovely winery in Napa run by an awesome family that makes killer Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, look no further than Failla. Their basic philosophy is to source great fruit from cooler climate vineyards, preferably close to the ocean, to enhance the bright fruit acidity as well as minerality of their wines. What you get is a a beautifully balanced wine that integrates fruit seamlessly into acidity.

Antonio Galloni

AG 94
"The 2022 Pinot Noir Estate Vineyard is a huge, brooding wine. Black cherry, licorice, sage, menthol, pencil shavings and cloves add to the wine's virile, somber personality. Readers will find a meaty, savory Pinot Noir with strong Syrah-like leanings. Give the tannins a year or two to soften." -Vinous
