Fattoria La Rivolta, Coda di Volpe, 2022

Fattoria La Rivolta is a family-run estate in Campania’s Benevento hills, where elevation, limestone, and organic farming converge to produce some of southern Italy’s most quietly compelling wines. While they’re better known for their Aglianico, their white wines—especially this rare Coda di Volpe—are sleeper hits for lovers of texture and minerality.
Coda di Volpe (“fox’s tail,” a reference to the grape’s distinctive cluster shape) is an ancient local variety that rarely sees the spotlight. But in the hands of La Rivolta, it’s given full attention: fermented in stainless steel, aged on lees, and bottled without fuss. The result is a wine of surprising finesse—zesty citrus, ripe pear, crushed herbs, and a hint of almond, all wrapped in a silky texture and lifted by a saline finish.
It’s not loud, but it lingers. A white that pairs with food the way good conversation pairs with dinner—effortlessly.
Pair with: grilled squid, fennel salad, or ricotta-stuffed zucchini blossoms.
