Domaine de l’Iserand, led by Jean‑François Malsert, crafts Saint‑Joseph from steep granite slopes in and around Secheras. The 2021 vintage reflects the site’s mineral backbone and Malsert’s low‑intervention approach. The wine is 100 % Syrah, hand‑harvested and vinified with native yeasts, emphasizing energy and clarity.

Jean-François Malsert was a devoted wine bar owner before founding Domaine de l'Iserand in 2011 on his grandfather's vineyard in the Northern Rhône. Four hectares of Syrah on granite and mica-schist, farmed organically, fermented whole-cluster, aged in amphorae and demi-muids. His VdF Syrah at around $20 offers great Northern Rhône terroir at a price that makes sense.
