Jean-Luc Jamet, Cote-Rotie Les Terrasses, 2020
is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
After decades working alongside his brother at Domaine Jamet, Jean-Luc Jamet set out on his own in 2013, bringing with him the same legendary sites and dedication to traditional Côte-Rôtie Syrah. His flagship wine, “Les Terrasses,” is a blend of fruit from multiple terraced vineyards across the appellation—primarily Le Chambertin, Lancement, and Fongeant, which sit on both schist and granite soils along the steep slopes of Ampuis.
The 2020 vintage is bold and structured, with aromatics of violet, cracked pepper, and black olive layered over a core of dark berries, smoky mineral, and charred herbs. It’s fermented with a healthy proportion of whole clusters and aged in mostly neutral oak, giving the wine lift and texture without modern gloss. There’s a touch more generosity and ripeness here than in leaner years, but the balance remains spot-on, and the finish is long, savory, and deeply satisfying.
“Les Terrasses” is not a single-site showpiece—instead, it’s a beautifully integrated snapshot of Côte-Rôtie’s complexity. If you love traditional Cornas, mature Saint-Joseph, or the early vintages of Domaine Jamet, this wine carries that lineage forward.
Enjoy with roast lamb, grilled duck breast, or mushroom and lentil stew, and consider cellaring for 8–15 years to watch it evolve.
