Joseph Drouhin is, of course, one of the great names of Burgundy. A rare producer that makes fantastic wines across the whole range of prices. Their Musigny is one of Burgundy's most sought-after bottles. But their "everyday-priced" wines are some of the greatest values year in and year out. And in between those extremes, they have a whole range of perfectly terroir expressive wines that over-deliver for price, including gems like the legendary Cotes their Beaune Clos des Mouches, offering close to Grand Cru quality at decidedly lower prices.

"Dark red. Suave, finely etched bouquet of wild strawberry, fresh raspberry, rose and pungent magnolia, with hints of cocoa powder, cola and orange zest. A silky, poised midweight with deep, youthful, mineral-tinged raspberry and cherry-cola flavors that grow sweeter with aeration. Finishes supple, vibrant and long, picking up notes of cinnamon and candied rose. A beautifully understated pinot that could be from a swanky Vosne vineyard." -Josh Raynolds

"Domaine Drouhin’s middle tier is named “Laurene”. The 2004 Pinot Noir “Laurene” proved to be firm, hard, and ungenerous. Domaine Drouhin has been on a roll since the 2002 vintage. Dare I say it, the winery seems to be making better wine in Oregon than they are in France" -Jay S Miller
