Jutta Ambrositsch is one of Vienna’s most exciting small-scale winemakers, reviving the city’s historic Gemischter Satz tradition with a modern, low-intervention approach. Kosmopolit is a true field blend, sourced from organically farmed old-vine vineyards where multiple grape varieties—Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, and more—are interplanted and harvested together. The result is a white wine that’s as complex as it is energetic, capturing both the diversity of Vienna’s terroir and the spirit of experimentation that defines Ambrositsch’s style.
Lime zest, green apple, and white flowers jump from the glass, with subtle herbal and flinty undertones that hint at the vineyard’s limestone and schist soils. The palate is precise and electric, driven by crisp acidity and a textured, mineral-laced finish. Unlike more opulent Austrian whites, Kosmopolit stays light on its feet, making it endlessly drinkable while still offering plenty of character.
