Kloof Street’s 2022 Swartland Rouge is a field blend of Swartland-sourced Syrah, Cinsault, and Grenache Noir, highlighting the region’s dry, granitic soils and bush-vine farming. The wine is sourced from unirrigated vineyards and hand-harvested.

Fermented with native yeasts and aged in seasoned French oak barrels, it is bottled unfiltered. The result is a vibrant, textured red with savory red-fruit character and regional finesse—a benchmark field blend from a modern South African estate.

57% Syrah, 27% Grenache, 9% Cinsault, 7% Tinta BarrocaSourced from six sustainably farmed vineyard parcels in different parts of the Swartland, aged 7-48 yearsTwo parcels of Syrah and one parcel of Cinsault and Grenache each from the stony Shale and Schist based soils of Roundstone farm at the foot of Kasteelberg; and the Tinta Barocca and another parcel of Syrah, all from the decomposed Granite of the Paardeberg.The must was initially pigeaged once a day prior to fermentation60% whole bunch fermentation with indigenous yeast fermentation began and the wine was pigeaged twice a day, with temperature not allowed to exceed 28ºCMaceration lasted just under 4 weeks, then trained and pressed to barrel for malolactic fermentationAged for 11 months in 3rd and 4th fill French oak 225L barrels & 5000L demi-muids, as well as large upright wooden vats
