Kobayashi’s Cabernet Franc 2022 is a striking expression of the grape—ripe and generous, but lifted and savory, too. Sourced from top vineyard sites in Washington State, it’s fermented with native yeasts and aged in mostly neutral barrels, allowing the spice, herbs, and dark fruit to shine without oak getting in the way.

The fruit for the 2022 Kobayashi Cabernet Franc comes from two sites within the Columbia Valley: Blue Mountain Vineyard, a cooler Walla Walla vineyard planted in the foothills of the Blue Mountains on windblown loess soils, and Red Willow, a high-elevation site in Yakima Valley planted on an east-facing parcel with sandy loam soils. The fruit was fermented with ambient yeasts in stainless steel and concrete before aging for 22 months in a 1,200L French oak foudre. The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
