Pineau d'Aunis is a Loire grape that was once wine-geek esoterica and is finally getting its due, prized for a wild signature of ripe red cherry, watermelon rind, and freshly cracked pepper. This one comes from Domaine Les Grandes Vignes, a Vaillant family estate in eastern Anjou, Demeter-certified biodynamic since 2008, on complex soils of schist and fossilized seashells known as faluns. It's made with no added sulfur and no filtration, yet stays clean, pure and gluggable. Serve it chilled and pour freely.
