Professional Reviews

Burghound

BH 92
"Here the nose is at once both more complex than the Beaune as well as much earthier with its ripe yet airy combination of red and dark currant along with subtle spice nuances. Interestingly, there is also a finer mouth feel to the bigger, richer and more powerful medium-bodied flavors that possess a relatively seductive mouth feel to the dusty, firm, well-balanced and impressively long finish. This is lovely though note that at least moderate patience will be required."

"The 2014 Pommard 1er Cru Les Grands Epenots will also require some patience. Revealing a pretty bouquet of wild berries, plum compote and flowers, it's fragrant and delicate on the nose, followed by a medium to full-bodied, pure and fine-grained palate built around a beautifully defined line of ripe acids. It's less dramatic and voluminous than the 2015 rendition, but it is similarly carrying a notable structural chassis—perhaps emphasized by the hail that impacted this vintage—that will require a decade of bottle age to melt away."

Focus On: Burgundy

Burgundy has long been the world's most famous wine region. But, underneath all the prestige, this region can be hard to get to know.

While Burgundy offers many great trophies from top producers in well-known villages like Vosne Romanee and Puligny Montrachet, it also offers excellent values to anyone willing to explore beyond the famous names. Our collection– one of the largest in the U.S. – has plenty of both!

From the very basics of Burgundy's regions and wines to the specific terroirs of individual single vineyards--
everything you need to know about Bourgogne is just a click away!
