In the heart of Barbaresco, this wine stands out with its classic Nebbiolo profile, showcasing the region’s ability to produce wines that are both graceful and powerful. With each sip, the 2016 vintage reveals a complexity that evolves beautifully over time.

The nose opens with fresh red fruit—cherry, raspberry—and delicate floral notes of rose and violet. Underneath, earthy tones of tobacco, leather, and dried herbs provide a solid foundation. On the palate, the wine is well-structured with firm tannins, offering layers of fruit and spice, while the acidity keeps it vibrant and balanced. A subtle minerality rounds out the experience, leading to a long, lingering finish.

Pair it with classic Italian dishes—braised meats, risotto, or aged cheeses—or let it age in the cellar to unlock even more complexity in the years ahead. This Barbaresco is a refined expression of the region, ready to enjoy now or to mature gracefully.

The Produttori is Barbaresco’s benchmark producer. A huge share of the village’s best farmers, representing virtually all of its best terroirs, bring their fruit to the co-op. It is hard to be admitted to the co-op. There is a waiting list; only a few make it. Once you are in, the rules are strict. You don’t get to hold back any wine for your own labels. This isn’t a region where growers ship off their second best to the co-op and put their pride and joy in their own luxury bottles. You have to meet strict quality controls, of course. The Produttori is only devoted to quality-minded farmers with incredible terroir giving their all. The winemaking is likewise next level. Aldo Vacca, the co-op’s general manager, is one of the wine world’s greatest artists. If you ever have the opportunity to meet and taste with him, take it; he is also one of the wine world’s great communicators.

"The 2016 Barbaresco is a stunning wine with tremendous richness for this bottling. Ample, deep and powerful, the 2016 exudes pedigree and class from start to finish. I can't remember a straight Barbaresco here with this much fruit density and unctuous richness, and yet there is more than enough tannin and overall structure to give the wine its classically leaning feel. A blast of sweet red cherry fruit, tobacco, menthol licorice and smoke hits the potent finish. What a wine!" -Vinous

"The 2016 Barbaresco is a tight and beautiful wine that will require more time to unwind and soften. This beautifully balanced vintage is characterized by a tight inner core of fruit that underlines the graceful aging capacity of these wines. The 2016 is shaping up to be one destined for long cellar aging. Now in its youth, the wine offers wild berry, rose and licorice aromas."

"Enticing aromas of violet, woodland berry, loose vineyard soil, wild mint and a hint of spearmint shape the intensely fragrant nose. The tense, young palate is still nervous but already boasts finesse, showing wild raspberry, crunchy red cherry, white pepper and star anise. Firm, refined tannins and racy acidity give it a linear, almost austere elegance, while bright acidity keeps it focused and balanced."
