Nestled in the heart of Barbaresco, Produttori del Barbaresco’s Paje 2019 is a wine that beautifully showcases the power and elegance of Nebbiolo. Known for its exceptional vineyards and traditional approach, Produttori del Barbaresco has crafted a wine that speaks to both the finesse and structure that define Barbaresco at its finest.

On the nose, the wine is immediately expressive, with bright red fruit—cherry, raspberry, and a touch of strawberry—interwoven with delicate floral notes of rose and violet. These are complemented by earthy aromas of tobacco, leather, and a hint of dried herbs, adding layers of complexity. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and structured, with tannins that are firm yet refined, providing both power and grace. The acidity is well-integrated, giving the wine a refreshing lift and balance. The finish is long and persistent, with lingering fruit, earthy spice, and a mineral edge that reflects the Paje vineyard’s unique terroir.

Barbaresco Paje 2019 pairs wonderfully with roasted meats, truffle dishes, or a selection of aged cheeses. While it is showing beautifully now, it also has the structure and depth to age gracefully for years to come. A true representation of Barbaresco, this wine embodies the elegance, complexity, and aging potential that Nebbiolo is known for.

The Produttori is Barbaresco’s benchmark producer. A huge share of the village’s best farmers, representing virtually all of its best terroirs, bring their fruit to the co-op. It is hard to be admitted to the co-op. There is a waiting list; only a few make it. Once you are in, the rules are strict. You don’t get to hold back any wine for your own labels. This isn’t a region where growers ship off their second best to the co-op and put their pride and joy in their own luxury bottles. You have to meet strict quality controls, of course. The Produttori is only devoted to quality-minded farmers with incredible terroir giving their all. The winemaking is likewise next level. Aldo Vacca, the co-op’s general manager, is one of the wine world’s greatest artists. If you ever have the opportunity to meet and taste with him, take it; he is also one of the wine world’s great communicators.
