Felseneck is Tim Frohlich's crown jewel, the flagship of one of Germany's most sought-after dry Riesling estates. This steep grand cru above the village of Bockenau in the Nahe is almost pure blue Devonian slate, with slopes running to a dizzying 65% grade and vines past 60 years old. The wine it produces is all about tension and cool, stony precision: lemony, smoky, taut, finesse over force. Hand-harvested and fermented with wild yeast, it's dry, structured, and built to age for a decade or more. A benchmark for what blue slate can do.
