Nestled in the heart of Austria’s Kamptal region, Schloss Gobelsburg’s Riesling Schlosskellerei 2023 is a wine that reflects the estate’s deep connection to its historic vineyards and the traditional winemaking methods that have been honed over centuries. Known for its remarkable consistency and elegance, this Riesling is crafted with a focus on purity and the expression of terroir, allowing the unique qualities of the Kamptal soils to shine through in every bottle.

The 2023 vintage is a testament to the precision that Schloss Gobelsburg is known for. The wine opens with bright citrus—lemon and lime—alongside subtle floral notes and a hint of minerality that speaks to the region’s limestone-rich soils. On the palate, it’s crisp and refreshing, with a fine acidity that balances the fruit and enhances the wine’s clarity. The finish is long and clean, leaving behind a delicate trace of citrus and stone, reflective of the estate’s commitment to showcasing the essence of Riesling.

This Riesling is an ideal match for a wide range of dishes, from fresh seafood and grilled vegetables to light poultry or goat cheese. Whether enjoyed on its own or paired with food, Schloss Gobelsburg’s Riesling Schlosskellerei 2023 is a wine that offers a perfect introduction to the elegance of Austrian Riesling—fresh, precise, and a beautiful reflection of its terroir.

Schloss Gobelsburg, a Cistercian monastic estate founded in Austria's Kamptal Valley in 1171 (1171!), is one of the largest holders of local “Grand Cru” terroirs: Heiligenstein, Gaisberg, Lamm, Renner, and Grub. When you mix all that tradition and terroir with the top-notch winemaking you get brilliant, age-worthy wines of complexity and depth.

Eva and Michael Moosbrugger were granted the winemaking and viticultural contract in 1996, and with the help and guidance of Michael’s mentor, Willi Bründlmayer, the winery has regained its prestige and is considered to be a leader in quality and innovation.
