Thierry Allemand doesn’t just make Cornas—he helped redefine it. And Reynard is the crown jewel of his tiny, intensely sought-after lineup. Sourced from older vines on some of the best, steepest slopes in the appellation, this is Syrah with soul, edge, and unmistakable energy.
The 2020 vintage brings plenty of dark fruit and structure, but it’s the details that set Reynard apart—violets, black olive, smoked herbs, and this earthy, ferrous quality that’s so true to Cornas. It’s powerful, but not loud. Structured, but not square. There’s an almost Burgundian grace to how it moves, wrapped in a very northern Rhône, wild-streaked core.
Allemand farms organically, ferments with native yeasts, and works with zero compromise in the cellar. And it shows—this wine feels alive, layered, and deeply rooted in place. It’s already compelling with a decant, but it’s also built to age for 20+ years, no question.
If you’re a Syrah fan, this is bucket-list stuff. And if you’re new to Cornas, be warned: after Allemand, it’s hard to go back.
