"The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino is incredibly spicy, presenting a vivid display of bright cherry and wild herbs offset by hints of candied citrus. Here I’m finding depths of silky, soothing textures with ripe red berries to match, nicely contrasted by zesty citrus and salty mineral tones. The finish is long, lightly structured yet fresh, providing a classically dry impression, but not clenchingly so. The 2013 is a great option for near-term drinking while the bigger wines come fully into focus." -Eric Guido

"The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino shows a pretty, mid-weight appearance with garnet and amber hues. This is a tight and elegant expression that shows initial signs of aging and evolution. The primary fruit is mild and tucked in at the back. The main forces of the bouquet include licorice, dried fruit and dusty exotic spice. This Brunello is almost ready to drink now and should be consumed over a shorter drinking window." -Monica Larner

"Owned by Bertani Domains, Val di Suga has three vineyards scattered across the Montalcino zone. Grapes from all three sites go into this panoramic illustration of Brunello, which is aged in large format Slavonian oak barrels. Easy to like, it offers mint, blossom, tea leaf and tobacco aromas. It's straightforward and pleasing on the palate, the ripe red berries held together by resolved tannins before petering out on the finish."

"Elegant, balanced and shows a nice mix of berry fruit, with savory underbrush and mineral elements. This is firm and fresh, with a lingering aftertaste on the salty side. Not imported into the U.S. Best from 2021 through 2033."

"Enticing scents of exotic spice, iris, red berry and a whiff of eucalyptus mingle together. On the youthfully assertive palate, firm, close-grained tannins and bright acidity frame sour cherry, pomegranate and white pepper. Drink after 2023."
