"The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino is incredibly spicy, presenting a vivid display of bright cherry and wild herbs offset by hints of candied citrus. Here I’m finding depths of silky, soothing textures with ripe red berries to match, nicely contrasted by zesty citrus and salty mineral tones. The finish is long, lightly structured yet fresh, providing a classically dry impression, but not clenchingly so. The 2013 is a great option for near-term drinking while the bigger wines come fully into focus." -Eric Guido

"The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino shows a pretty, mid-weight appearance with garnet and amber hues. This is a tight and elegant expression that shows initial signs of aging and evolution. The primary fruit is mild and tucked in at the back. The main forces of the bouquet include licorice, dried fruit and dusty exotic spice. It's straightforward and pleasing on the palate, the ripe red berries held together by resolved tannins before petering out on the finish."
