Vignai da Duline is a small estate in Friuli's Colli Orientali run by Federica Magrini and Lorenzo Mocchiutti, who farm old vines with obsessive attention to natural practices. Their "Morus Nigra" takes its name from the black mulberry trees that line the vineyards, where Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso—a native variety with distinctive red stems—grows on steep hillsides. The 2021 sees extended maceration and aging in large Slavonian oak, allowing the grape's wild, brambly character to emerge without heavy extraction. The result shows dark berry fruit, violets, and an earthy undertone with fine-grained tannins that reflect both the variety's rustic origins and careful winemaking. An excellent match for braised meats or aged cheeses.
