A Very Volcanic Rosato from Tenuta Terre Nere
Some of today's most exciting wines hail from the still-active and ever-changing volcanic Mount Etna.
Sicily, and more specifically Etna, has become (like Piedmont and Tuscany) a great Italian wine region. Tenuta delle Terre Nere is one of its brightest stars.
Today we're delighted to offer you their thirst-quenching 2020 Rosato!
Some of Etna's wines tend to lean towards the likes of the great wines of Piedmont. They tend to emphasize structure with bright cherry fruit, crushed herbs and savory flavors.
But there are some which skew more towards Burgundy. These have a greater focus on purity of fruit, minerality, and a supremely nuanced expression of terroir. Terre Nere is very much of this, Burgundian, camp.
Terre Nere's Rosato is an alluring example of this elegant expression of terroir.
It's made exclusively from Etna's noble grape, Nerello Mascalese, and grown in the black (nere) volcanic soils that made Terre Nere famous.
In the glass, it's a gorgeous salmon-colored pink. It holds profound focus, but generous red-berry fruit, and a distinct minerality that can only be achieved with Mount Etna's unique and dynamic volcanic soils.
As the popularity of Etna and its wines continues to soar, the wines are increasingly hard to come by. And while we're happy to report that we were able to secure generous quantities of this gorgeous 2020 Rosato, it certainly isn't unlimited.
Year after year it's one of our most anticipated rosés and now's the time to stock up!
