Summer Session: July–August 2025

Tuesday, July 15: Wine for the C-Suite (taught by Annie Edgerton, DWSET, CS, CSW)

Difficulty level: Deep Dive

In this class, you'll learn how to leverage wine knowledge to reinforce leadership and OWN the business dinner.

Selecting wine for a business dinner goes far beyond merely picking a bottle. Did you know you can demonstrate leadership qualities like effective communication, adaptability, confidence, decision-making, respect, empathy, and self-awareness all while choosing wine for dinner? Flatiron educator Annie Edgerton, DWSET, is a 30-year wine and spirits industry veteran, and has unlocked the secrets of wine lists and communication, delivering to you the key elements of how to choose the right wines for the right people at the right restaurant in a way that will impress without intimidation. From deal closure to executive alignment to wooing potential clients, she understands the nuances of business dinners, and will share numerous insights on how to cement your leadership over the perfect wine.

This class will be held on Tuesday, July 15 at 6pm on the mezzanine. Wines tasted in class will be available for purchase with a discount available to attendees only. Seating is limited. Get tickets now.

Tuesday, July 22: Skip the Sancerre! Adventurous Whites for Summer (taught by Annie Edgerton, DWSET, CS, CSW)

Don’t get us wrong, we love Sancerre! But for many drinkers, it has become de rigeur. Are you ready to branch out and be more adventurous with your summertime whites? Join Annie Edgerton DWSET as she breaks down a fascinating array of warm-weather sippers, jumping off from the styles you already love. From a cooler on the beach to oysters on a boat, Annie knows exactly which whites will tantalize your taste buds. She will explore the reasons why these wines are so perfect in summer, and share the tools of how you can continue to be a more intrepid drinker, getting you out of your comfort zone in the most comfortable way possible.

This class will begin at 6:00pm on Tuesday, July 22 on the mezzanine. Wines tasted in class will be available for purchase with a discount available to attendees only. Seating is limited. Get tickets now.

Tuesday, July 29: Burgundy 101: Don't Panic (taught by Julia Burke, WSET)

Difficulty level: Wine 101

Are you utterly intimidated by Burgundy? In love with about a third of the Burgundy wines you've tasted, but left confused by the others? Does your head spin when you try to make sense of climats and lieu-dits? Are you baffled wondering how to find value, or at least not go broke, on your journey of Burgundy discovery? Does it all leave you feeling like you should wait to explore Burgundy until you're more confident in your wine knowledge?

It doesn't have to be this way. Sure, Burgundy is one of the world's most expensive wine regions on average, but it's also incredibly dynamic and exciting, and it has the power to teach you about wine while making you fall in love with it—without taking all your money in the process. We promise. Join Julia Burke DWSET as we get our heads around Burgundy, from under-the-radar areas to vintage variation, and taste some examples of Burgundy wines that taste amazing and won't tank your bank account.

This class will begin at 6:00pm on Tuesday, July 29 on the mezzanine. Wines tasted in class will be available for purchase with a discount available to attendees only. Seating is limited. Get tickets now.

Tuesday, August 5: Your New Favorite Italian Grapes Part 2 (taught by Ren Peir, WSET III)

Difficulty level: Wine 101

Italy has the most impressive roster of grape varieties on the planet, and Ren's last Italian grapes class proved these beautiful regional varieties are both incredibly popular and very fun to drink. Thanks to Italy's unique geography, tapestry of distinct regional identities, and strong historical winegrowing tradition, local specialties and obscure varieties can be found all over the country, offering near-endless potential for adventurous drinkers, and each one has a story to tell—but many of these grapes are effectively unknown in the greater wine world. Ren Peir, WSET III, will build upon her very successful Part One of this class, sharing characterful grapes from all over Italy. (But all are welcome, even if you didn't catch the first class!)

This class will begin at 6:00pm on Tuesday, August 5 on the mezzanine. Wines discussed in class will be available for purchase with a discount available to attendees only. Seating is limited. Get tickets now.

Tuesday, August 12: Blind Tasting Challenge (taught by Julia Burke, DWSET)

Difficulty level: Deep Dive

Want to build your blind tasting skills? Try your hand at one of Julia Burke DWSET's Blind Tasting Challenge sessions. In this session we will dive into guessing a wine's age. We will learn about primary, secondary and tertiary notes in classic wine styles, and how age affects structural components and appearance. We'll then discuss how to factor them into the other clues in your glass to assess the approximate age of a wine, and even make a reasonable guess at a vintage. "Guess Your Age" has never been so much fun!

This class will begin at 6:00pm on Tuesday, August 12 on the mezzanine. Wines discussed in class will be available for purchase with a discount available to attendees only. Seating is limited. Get tickets now.
