"The 2023er Enkircher Steffensberg Im Löwenbaum Riesling Feinherb was made from fruit harvested at 87° Oechsle on old vines still trained on single pole in this prime Lieu-Dit at the heart of the Steffensberg and was fermented down to sweet levels of residual sugar (10.5 g/l). A whiff of volatile quickly gives way to an aromatic and very attractive nose of tangerine, yellow peach, minty herbs, licorice, ginger, and plenty of spices. The wine is comparatively light weighted on the slightly broader and creamier palate. The finish leaves a fresh feel, almost dry-tasting, and salty, with still quite some tartness in need of integration. This just off-dry tasting Im Löwenbaum has quite some upside potential if it gains in finesse with aging. 2027-2043" Mosel Fine Wines

German Wines

Is there a better grape than Riesling? Is there a better value? Its fruit purity, its perfume, and its mineral nuance are all unparalleled. And for centuries, the top German Rieslings were priced accordingly: at least as expensive as the top red wines of Bordeaux and Burgundy. But nowadays you could spend a lifetime exploring Germany’s great Riesling-producing regions while staying well within your budget. You might take an occasional break to try Germany’s other white grapes or perhaps a glass of Spätburgunder (the local name for Pinot Noir). It’s time to get started!
