From Rodri Méndez—the thoughtful force behind Forjas del Salnés and collaborator with Raúl Pérez—Área de Arra comes from a single vineyard in the Val do Salnés, the coolest, most Atlantic-facing zone of Rías Baixas. The vines are old, the soils are granitic, and the approach is low-intervention: native yeasts, long lees aging, and no rush to bottle.

The 2019 vintage is already gaining complexity. There's fruit—lime, pear skin, a bit of quince—but it rides beneath the surface, secondary to the wine’s saline grip and flinty backbone. Aging in neutral wood gives it breadth without weight. This is Albariño built more like white Burgundy or serious Chenin: slow-burning, structured, and destined to reveal more with time.

Drink it now with rich seafood or Galician-style octopus—or cellar it another 5–10 years to watch it deepen and unfold. For lovers of mineral whites with energy and staying power, Área de Arra is a quietly profound bottle.
