What is this wine?
Gérard Boulay’s Sancerre Chavignol 2024 is a benchmark Loire Valley white made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc, sourced from the steep, chalky limestone and Kimmeridgian marl slopes surrounding the village of Chavignol, the heart of Sancerre. Boulay is one of the appellation’s most revered growers, farming organically and working with minimal intervention to let terroir speak clearly. The wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel and old oak, highlighting purity and texture.

Why get this wine?
Gérard Boulay’s wines are among the finest expressions of Sancerre—vibrant, mineral, and deeply authentic. The 2024 vintage shows excellent balance and clarity, combining ripe citrus fruit with saline tension. This bottling delivers the precision and chalky minerality that make Chavignol the most prized terroir in the appellation, offering quality that rivals top white Burgundy at a fraction of the price.

What does this wine taste like?
Bright and focused, with aromas of lemon zest, green apple, and white flowers layered over notes of flint and chalk. The palate is taut and elegant, with mouthwatering acidity and a long, saline finish.

When should you drink this wine?
Delicious young for its crisp energy, but will gain texture and depth through 2032. Serve chilled with goat cheese (especially Crottin de Chavignol), oysters, or light seafood dishes.
