Nestled in the rolling hills of Anjou, Château de Plaisance brings a distinctive touch to their Anjou Rouge with "Sur La Butte" 2022. This wine captures the essence of the region, blending fresh, juicy fruit with a subtle earthy character, all framed by the unique minerality of the terroir.

On the nose, Sur La Butte offers an inviting bouquet of red berries—cherry, raspberry, and a touch of strawberry—alongside hints of spice and dried herbs. The palate is fresh and lively, with smooth tannins that create a soft texture, while the wine’s vibrant acidity keeps it balanced and refreshing. The finish is clean and mineral-driven, highlighting the region’s distinct soil and allowing the wine’s fruit and earthiness to shine.

This Anjou Rouge pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes, from grilled meats and roasted vegetables to charcuterie or a mushroom risotto. Sur La Butte 2022 is approachable now but has the structure to evolve, offering a delightful expression of Anjou that’s both easy-drinking and full of character.

Antonio Galloni

"The 2022 Sur La Butte is a soft, open style with fresh, fragrant, lightly spiced fruit reminiscent of raspberry, blackberry, black olives and dried herbs. There's no green at all to be found in this warm season and no oak allowing the fruit to be the juicy main event. There's a tension on the finish from both the schist and partial whole bunch, which makes this more than a quaffer but only needs some charcuterie to tenderize the modest tannin." -Rebecca Gibb MW
