Bruno Verdi’s family has been farming in Lombardy’s Oltrepò Pavese for generations, crafting wines that highlight the region’s overlooked potential. While Pinot Grigio is often associated with simple, easygoing whites, Verdi’s take leans into texture and depth, sourced from calcareous soils that bring structure and minerality.

Golden apple, pear, and citrus blossom lead on the nose, with hints of almond and wet stone emerging as the wine opens. Unlike the lighter Pinot Grigios from Veneto, Verdi’s Oltrepò Pavese version has more body and a slightly waxy texture, all lifted by crisp acidity that keeps it refreshing. The finish is clean and mineral-driven, making it as versatile as it is drinkable.

The Verdi family can trace its viticultural origins back seven generations to the 18th century, when Antonio Verdi came from Parma to settle in the rolling hills of Oltrepò Pavese. The grapes are harvested by hand from vineyards in their home village of Canneto Pavese and the adjacent commune of Castana. The wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel at a low temperature and the wine is bottled at the end of winter to capture its scintillating freshness. Verdi’s Pinot Grigio is a fine, elegant wine of great balance.
