There's a secret stash of oldies in Portugal's Dão region. And they herald from Quinta de Lemos.

Quinta de Lemos is the wine arm of the Lemos Family (better known in the US for their luxury textiles sold under the Celso de Lemos & Abyss/Habidecor lines). This is a project that was born with a clear intention in mind: to bring back the "Burgundy of Portugal" (as the Dão was known a few decades ago).

The Quinta de Lemos family focuses exclusively on indigenous varietals (like Touriga Nacional & Alfrocheiro) which they raise to perfection. Concentration is the name of their game, as they're going for acidity and powerful wines that will age well.

The result: a collection of late-released wines that are elegant, soft, fruit-forward, alive and that start off with the 2008 vintage.

The class will focus on the Quinta de Lemos single-varietal releases.

Naama Laufer, cofounder of NLC Wines and one of our favorite ambassadors of Portuguese wine, will lead this exciting seminar that will help you get your head around the unique varieties and places that make Portugal so special.

The cost of this seminar is $40 and a $20 credit at the store will be extended to each guest for a future purchase. Seating is limited and special pricing on the featured wines will be made available only to attendees. We hope you can join us on the mezzanine at 6pm on Wednesday, November 5 for this special evening.

Second Bite at the Apple: Picq Chablis 2022s

Now, if you're new to these newsletters, you might not know what all the fuss is about. The TL;DR is that the Picq family is among Chablis' great producers -- but one that has no grand cru vineyards, no blockbuster collectibles, and that therefore has stayed outside the field of vision of international collectors.
