We look forward to welcoming John Williams, founder of Frog’s Leap Winery, to the Flatiron Wine School mezzanine on November 12. This benchmark winery in Napa was the first vineyard to be CCOF-certified organic, and today they continue to produce outstanding Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel, Cab, and more while championing sustainability. We'll taste through their lineup as John, a charismatic presenter, tells us his story.

John grew up on a dairy farm in western New York and discovered his passion for winemaking through a work-study program while at Cornell. After earning his Master’s from UC Davis, he worked at Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars before launching Frog’s Leap in 1981. A visionary in sustainable viticulture, Williams championed organic farming early on, earning Napa Valley’s first CCOF vineyard certification in 1989. With a commitment to soil health, dry farming, and environmentally responsible practices, he helped shape Frog’s Leap into a pioneering, family-run winery. Today, he continues to lead winemaking efforts alongside his son Rory and wife Tori.

The cost of this seminar is $40 and a $20 credit will be extended to ticket holders for a future purchase. We hope you can join us on the mezzanine at 6pm on Wednesday, November 12 for this special evening.

And yet, Chinon (generally) and Joguet (specifically) remain a bit of an insider’s wine. Charles Joguet may be one of the appellation’s benchmark producers, and an early proponent of both single vineyard Chinon as well as organic farming.
