Portugal's Bairrada region is known for an incredible variety of wines made from the versatile Baga grape, from bold reds to elegant sparkling wines, in addition to the charming local white varieties like Bical, Maria Gomes, and Arinto. Visiting to present on this striking wine region is winemaker Afonso Sousa of Bairrada's Sidonio de Sousa. On Monday, October 6 at 6pm on our mezzanine, Afonso will present a seminar on his family estate as we taste through his wonderful lineup of wines.
This is one of the favorite producers in our Portugal program, and with good reason! Sidonio de Sousa, recognized for having amongst the oldest of the Baga vines in Bairrada, continues to make wine in the traditional way, using 100 year-old Portuguese oak barriques for his reds and champenois method for his sparklers.

The cost of this seminar is $40 and a $20 credit at the store will be extended to each guest for a future purchase. Seating is limited and special pricing on the featured wines will be made available to attendees only. We hope you can join us on the mezzanine at 6pm on Monday, October 6 for this special evening.

Second Bite at the Apple: Picq Chablis 2022s

Now, if you're new to these newsletters, you might not know what all the fuss is about. The TL;DR is that the Picq family is among Chablis' great producers -- but one that has no grand cru vineyards, no blockbuster collectibles, and that therefore has stayed outside the field of vision of international collectors.
