One of our favorite German producers, period, is coming to the mezz: Von Winning's Oskar Micheletti will join us on Thursday, November 14 at 6pm for a seminar featuring these spectacular Pfalz wines.

Based in Deidesheim, this estate turns out some of the best dry wines in Germany. Von Winning maintains some of the oldest parcels in Grosses Gewächs vineyards smattered across Forst, Deidesheim, and Ruppertsberg.  Von Winning practices organic and sustainable viticulture and is known for spectacular sparkling wines and Sauvignon Blanc as well as beautiful Rieslings from their top-notch sites.

Oskar, Von Winning's export manager, is a native of South Tyrol in Italy. He followed the call of wine and studied viticulture and oenology, first in Italy, then in the Rheingau. As a young winemaker, he traveled through various winegrowing regions around the world including Barolo, Stellenbosch, and McLaren Vale. He has been living and working in the Pfalz since 2013.

Oskar will take us through Von Winning's full lineup as we learn about the cutting edge of the Pfalz. Seating is very limited for this exclusive seminar. The cost of this seminar is $40 and a $20 credit at the store will be extended to each guest for a future purchase. We hope you can join us on Thursday, November 14 at 6pm for this very special event.

A Can't-Miss Old-Vine Red Burg: Camus-Bruchon's Savigny-lès-Beaune

Camus-Bruchon's 2022 Savigny-lès-Beaune "Aux Grands Liards Vieilles Vignes," shows how beautifully old vines translate classic terroir and Guillaume Camus did an exemplary job letting his vines sing in 2022. Despite the heat and stress of the vintage, he has managed to capture wines with incredible precision and balance with generous, juicy ripe fruit balanced with unstoppable freshness and lift.

A Crémant de Bourgogne to Charm Champagne Lovers: Dangin's Cuvée Blanche

To celebrate the end of 2024, we are offering an even more delicious version of one of 2023's most popular sparkling wines. We're talking about Bruno Dangin's blanc de noir called "Cuvée Blanche" — a Crémant de Bourgogne you could easily mistake for a great Grower Champagne.

A Duo of Amazing Alto Piemonte Wines: Le Piane's Boca + Nebbiolo

Located in the small village of Boca, Le Piane is one of our favorite Alto Piemonte producers. Swiss-born Christoph Kunzli purchased the cellar and a tiny clutch of vines from octogenarian vigneron Antonio Cerri soon after arriving in the region in the late 1980s. If — like us — you find a hypothetical cross between the traditional wines of Barolo and the Savoie quite enticing, then these wines are must-trys.

Great Event

Oskar was super knowledgeable and interesting. The wines were from a great range and I liked that we could drink at our leisure and enjoy them as he spoke. Having Katya there was a bonus! Love these Flatiron tasting events.
