What is this wine?
Château Massereau is a small, family-run estate located in Barsac, within Bordeaux’s Graves region. The Chaigneau family farms organically and works with minimal intervention in the cellar, producing both traditional and natural-style wines that stand apart from Bordeaux’s mainstream. Cuvée Tradition is their entry red, a blend led by Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, vinified with native yeasts and little or no added sulfur.
Why get this wine?
This is Bordeaux with a difference: artisanal, natural, and transparent. In a region dominated by large châteaux and polished styles, Massereau offers authenticity and freshness while keeping prices fair. Cuvée Tradition gives a taste of Bordeaux terroir through the lens of minimal-intervention winemaking—rare for this famous region.
What does this wine taste like?
Medium-bodied and vibrant, with juicy red and black fruits—plum, cherry, and cassis—balanced by earthy spice, tobacco leaf, and a gentle mineral edge. The tannins are smooth and lively, making it both approachable and food-friendly.
When should you drink this wine?
Delicious now with charcuterie, roast chicken, or bistro classics, but it can also rest a few years in the cellar. A great everyday Bordeaux for natural wine lovers.
