Eric Sussman founded Radio-Coteau in 2002 after years working in Burgundy (Comte Armand, Jack Prieur) and with Randall Graham at Bonny Doon. His philosophy: "The best fertiliser is the farmer's shadow." The Dierke vineyard, farmed exclusively for Radio-Coteau since 2008 by Professor John Dierke, is CCOF-certified organic—a former apple orchard on the cool, foggy West Sebastopol hillside. Sussman dry-farms and extends ripening to capture terroir, using only native yeasts and minimal sulfur in the cellar. The 2015 vintage came at the peak of California's drought: severely limited yields, tiny concentrated berries, one of the earliest harvests on record. A decade later, this Pinot shows power and structure—dark color, Brazilian coffee tannins fading to mineral elegance. Built to age, it rewards patience.

Antonio Galloni

"The 2015 Pinot Noir Dierke is powerful, tannic and structured, all of which suggest it will need a few years to be at its best. Then again, the 2015 was also bottled a week before this tasting. Even so, the wine's energy and tannic clout are formidable. Bright red stone fruit, floral and mineral notes shape the tense, driving finish. There is plenty to look forward to." -Antonio Galloni
