When their father Georges died in 1988 insisting winemaking was "not a job for women," sisters Marie-Christine and Marie-Andrée Mugneret proved him spectacularly wrong. Together they have elevated this Vosne-Romanée-based domaine to the first rank of Burgundy—Marie-Christine in the cellar, Marie-Andrée in the vineyard—farming just over eight hectares across nine appellations. Les Vignes Rondes is a Premier Cru on the southern side of Nuits-Saint-Georges, where rich limestone-and-clay soils produce wines of dark fruit intensity and refined, aging-worthy tannins. Hand-harvested, meticulously sorted, aged eighteen months in oak, then bottled without fining or filtration. The 2012 vintage—born from a troubled spring redeemed by a warm, sunny summer and autumn—produced charming, expressive Burgundy with deep color, sophisticated tannins, and concentrated fruit, though in tiny quantities. Now fully mature and showing beautifully.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 92
"The 2012 Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Vigne Rondes is endowed with considerable energy and pure vibrancy. Here the flavors are bold and direct yet also weightless. Dark red fruit, spice and new leather nuances are very much alive in the glass. I very much like the sense of tension here, yet there is more than enough mid-palate presence to ensure years of rewarding drinking," -Antonio Galloni

Focus On: Burgundy

Burgundy has long been the world's most famous wine region. But, underneath all the prestige, this region can be hard to get to know.

While Burgundy offers many great trophies from top producers in well-known villages like Vosne Romanee and Puligny Montrachet, it also offers excellent values to anyone willing to explore beyond the famous names. Our collection– one of the largest in the U.S. – has plenty of both!

From the very basics of Burgundy's regions and wines to the specific terroirs of individual single vineyards--
everything you need to know about Bourgogne is just a click away!
