It’s always a pleasure to taste through this wide range from Laherte...[he] is among the most progressive of the young growers of his generation.
—Antonio Galloni, Vinous
If there’s ever a moment to pop a luxurious bottle of pink bubbles, Valentine’s Day makes a pretty compelling case. And nothing delivers quite like Laherte Frères’ stunning Rosé de Meunier. Based on the ripe, juicy 2022 vintage, this 100% Pinot Meunier is a beautiful, savory, deep magenta-colored charmer bursting with fresh wild strawberry and tart cherry tones wrapped around a finely chiseled, mouthwatering mineral core.
Aurélien Laherte is an all-time Flatiron MVP Champagne grower. We absolutely adore the wines he crafts at his family estate in the village of Chavot in the Coteaux Sud d’Epernay. Stylistically, they run the range from refreshing and crisp to rich and vinous. Regardless of which cuvée is in your glass, there is a purity, finesse, and unbridled deliciousness that is impossible to deny.
Whether your Valentine’s Day plans involve a plate of oysters, a crisp-skinned roast chicken, takeout sushi, or simply chilling on the couch in your pjs, this bottle is ready to rise to the occasion. Champagne may not solve everything, but there's no denying that it improves the evening.
Laherte Freres, Champagne Extra Brut Rosé de Meunier, NV $69.99
"...classic Laherte all the way. Sweet dried cherry, mint, leather, dried flowers and spice are very nicely lifted. This savory, layered Rosé is a total delight. All the elements are so well balanced. It's all finesse and class here. The Rosé is 60% Meunier done in Blanc de Noirs style, with 30% macerated Meunier and 10% still red wine. Dosage is 2.5 grams per liter; multiple disgorgements throughout the year."
