The "King of Wines" that gave its name to the village of Gevrey-Chambertin, this grand cru represents the pinnacle of Burgundy. Louis Jadot, founded in 1859, is one of the region's most respected négociants, with access to exceptional fruit across the Côte d'Or. Chambertin's 13 hectares of east-facing limestone slopes produce wines of unmatched power and depth in Burgundy. The 2009 vintage was warm and generous, creating opulent wines that have developed beautifully. Now with 15+ years of age, expect layers of dark fruit, spice, earth, and game wrapped in silky tannins. One of Burgundy's greatest expressions. Decant 2 hours.

Professional Reviews

Burghound

BH 94
"A ripe yet noticeably reserved and cool nose offers up notes of raspberry, cherry and stone hints. There is good richness to the detailed, intense and vibrant big-bodied flavors that display excellent delineation on the overtly austere, mouth coating and impressively complex finish. This is still very tight and will require plenty of bottle age to shed the considerable tannins though it should be well worth the wait."

"The 2009 Chambertin flows across the palate with explosive yet silky layers of fruit. The wine continues to build impressively, showing the radiant personality of the vintage. Everything is in the perfect place in this sublime Burgundy. Sweet inner fragrance lingers on the eternal finish." -Antonio Galloni

Burgundy has long been the world's most famous wine region. But, underneath all the prestige, this region can be hard to get to know.

While Burgundy offers many great trophies from top producers in well-known villages like Vosne Romanee and Puligny Montrachet, it also offers excellent values to anyone willing to explore beyond the famous names. Our collection– one of the largest in the U.S. – has plenty of both!

From the very basics of Burgundy's regions and wines to the specific terroirs of individual single vineyards--
everything you need to know about Bourgogne is just a click away!
