"Red, fresh and meaty on the dense and reductive but very attractive nose, Stéphane Sérol's 2019 Côte Roannaise Chez Coste is reminiscent of ripe blackberries, a hint of licorice, nougat and plant extracts. Round, elegant and refined, with red fruit aromas, self-confident yet fine tannins and a remarkably long and stimulatingly refreshing finish, this is a tight, complex and sustainable Gamay that's close to Pinot Noir but on a granite terroir.
