Tenuta di Trinoro’s 2022 Le Cupole is the estate’s second wine, crafted by Andrea Franchetti from high-altitude vineyards in Val d’Orcia. The blend—57% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Franc, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot—captures the intensity of the vintage with generous fruit and structure.

Fermented in stainless steel and aged eight months in used barrique, followed by twelve in concrete, it shows deep black fruit, spice, and balanced tannins. An expressive, approachable Tuscan red that echoes the estate’s flagship style.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

"The 2022 Le Cupole is a bomb. Ample, dense and super-expressive, the 2022 stains the palate with an exotic mélange of black cherry, espresso, licorice, mocha and dried flowers. This opulent, full-throttle Tuscan red delivers the goods." -Antonio Galloni

Robert Parker

"A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, the Tenuta di Trinoro 2022 Le Cupole remains one of Italy's greatest value buys, especially for fans of concentrated, sun-drenched Tuscan reds. The fruit is ripe, but not overripe, and there are thick layers of blackcurrant and Morello cherry at the core. These are framed by toasted spice and cinnamon. The wine is medium to full-bodied, although the ample fruit weight gives this vintage a bigger overall mouthfeel." -Monica Larner

Decanter

"This blend of 57% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Franc, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot has lovely aromas of dark berries with pretty floral hints. In the mouth, it's focused and vertical, with crisp red and black berry flavours and a balsamic undertone that finishes with plenty of spice and a long, bright line of acidity."

"I've always had a bias toward the Sicilian branch of the Franchetti wines—they're so agile and precise—but the Tuscan 2022 Le Cupole, ultra-crunchy, spicy, textured, could lure me north any day." -Danielle Callegari
