When Guillaume d’Angerville of Domaine Marquis d’Angerville set out to make wine in the Jura, it wasn’t for novelty—it was because he believed the region's terroirs could rival those of his native Volnay. With the creation of Domaine du Pélican, that belief is now in bottle, and nowhere more clearly than in this Pinot Noir from Clos Saint-Laurent, a limestone-rich monopole vineyard in Montigny-lès-Arsures, just outside Arbois.

The 2023 vintage is beautifully expressive: crushed red berries, wild herbs, and rose petal on the nose, with a palate that’s fine-boned, mineral, and subtly earthy. Fermentation is with native yeasts, aging occurs in mostly neutral barrels, and everything is farmed organically and biodynamically. The result is a transparent, detailed Pinot Noir that channels the lift of Jura and the poise of Burgundy, without ever leaning too hard in either direction.

This isn’t Jura funk or Burgundy weight—it’s something quietly original: a wine of clarity and place, with a saline, stony thread running through fine-grained fruit.

Perfect for those who love Volnay, Chambolle-Musigny, or Ganevat’s reds, and an ideal match for mushroom dishes, roast chicken, or alpine cheeses. Serve cool, savor slowly.
