What is this wine?
Domaine Huet, founded in 1928, is Vouvray’s benchmark estate and a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture. The Pétillant Réserve is a méthode traditionnelle sparkling wine made entirely from Chenin Blanc grown on the estate’s biodynamically farmed vineyards. Unlike Huet’s sec, demi-sec, or moelleux still wines, this bottling undergoes secondary fermentation in bottle and is aged extensively on the lees for depth and complexity. The 2015 vintage is bottled in magnum (1.5L), ideal for aging and celebration.

Why get this wine?
Huet’s Pétillant Réserve is one of the Loire Valley’s greatest sparkling wines—dry, mineral, and elegant, with serious aging potential. The magnum format not only makes for an impressive presentation but also ensures even greater longevity and freshness. It’s a rare chance to secure a mature vintage sparkler from one of France’s most esteemed Chenin specialists.

What does this wine taste like?
Crisp orchard fruit, quince, and citrus zest layered with notes of almond, honey, and brioche. The palate is fine and creamy, underpinned by Huet’s signature chalky minerality and racy acidity. Complex, dry, and precise.

When should you drink this wine?
Perfect for festive occasions or pairing with shellfish, charcuterie, and aged cheeses. Delicious now, but the magnum format allows graceful development for another decade or more. Serve well chilled.

Professional Reviews

Robert Parker

RP 92
"The 2015 Vouvray Pétillant Brut displays an intense yellow color and opens with a deep and rich bouquet of perfectly ripe and juicy yellow fruits intertwined with rich brioche and vanilla as well as chalky aromas. Much fruitier than any Champagne. Full-bodied and rich yet bone dry and fresh, this is nevertheless a pure and refreshing sparkling wine that should be served for lunch or dinner rather than as an aperitif. Tightly structured, long and energetic. 12.5% alcohol." -Stephan Reinhardt
