Antonio Galloni

91 points

"Medium red. Pretty, tangy aromas of red fruits, flowers, minerals and white pepper; I might have picked this blind as coming from Chambolle. Then juicy and intensely flavored without showing any excess weight. A bit marked by its 50% new oak component today but this vibrant grand cru has plenty of subtle flavor interest. These wines are really quite penetrating and brisk for the vintage." —Stephen Tanzer

Robert Parker

91 points

"Red raspberry and red currant confiture, ginger, cinnamon, and Latakia tobacco-like smokiness comprise the alluring scents and flavors of the Mugnerets’ 2007 Echezeaux. Rich and rounded – with a hint of caramel emerging as it moves into its long, spicy finish – this still manages to be infectiously juicy throughout. I’d safely anticipate 6-8 years of satisfaction." —David Schildknecht

Jancis Robinson

16.5 points

"Lively, fruity and a little bit simple at the moment. At this stage it doesn't tower above their Vosne, honestly. A bit dry and stodgy at the end." —Jancis Robinson MW

More about Mugneret-Gibourg

In Vosne-Romanée, the Mugneret-Gibourg family crafts Pinot Noir from parcels that sit in some of Burgundy's most storied ground. North Berkeley Imports champions these wines, recognizing their singular expression of Côte de Nuits terroir. These reds taste like they've been rooted in terroir for centuries, even if the vines are younger. Serious stuff from a producer who lets the vineyard speak instead of imposing technique.
