From the cruelest vintage in a generation comes a wine of startling beauty. The 2021 season devastated Burgundy—April frosts wiped out up to ninety percent of some vineyards, and a cold, wet growing season delayed harvest by a full month. But at Domaine Roulot, the tiny surviving crop from this walled 1.38-hectare monopole concentrated into something extraordinary. Jean-Marc Roulot, who left a Paris acting career to take over the family domaine in 1989, has long championed precision over power, and the 2021 rewards that philosophy: stony minerality, green apple, white currant, and limestone thread through a taut, electric palate that vibrates with energy. Aged twelve months in barrel followed by six months in tank, with minimal new oak, this is Meursault stripped to its mineral essence. A domaine whose 1973 Charmes placed second in the Judgment of Paris—the pedigree here runs deep.

The name Roulot is now a synonym for the very best wine that the village of Meursault can offer. It is rather remarkable when you consider that just 2 generations back the Roulot's were known as producers of Burgundian brandy and eau de vie. But Guy Roulot began leveraging the family's distilling success to purchase small plots of vines in Meursault and by the 1970's was known as a pioneer for producing top quality chardonnay from distinct parcels or ""lieu-dits"".

When Guy passed away unexpectedly in the early '80's his son Jean-Marc was pursuing acting in Paris. In 1989 he returned to take on the reigns of the small Domaine and in the following decades built on his fathers success so well that the wines are now extremely hard to acquire and to afford for most of us.
