Felsina's single-vineyard Riserva from the Rancia site, and 2013 was a celebrated, classic Tuscan vintage now drinking right in its sweet spot. This is Sangiovese from one amphitheater-shaped vineyard in Castelnuovo Berardenga, at the warm southern tip of Chianti Classico, where limestone-and-slate soils lend lift and a mineral spine. Felsina is one of the great names in the zone, and Rancia is its most serious bottling, built to age two decades. At a dozen-plus years old, the tannins have softened and the savory, earthy side has come forward while the fruit holds. A back-vintage worth grabbing for collectors and dinner-table drinkers alike.

Fèlsina was founded in 1966 when Domenico Poggiali acquired the estate during Tuscany's wine revolution. Nearly 600 hectares with ninety-five planted to vines, Felsina is best known for their sleek, aromatic Super Tuscan Fontallaro and the spicy, intense Rancia Riserva—wines that prove Sangiovese is anything but one-note.
