Have a question about this wine or any other in this year's sale?

Moutard’s Champagne Brut Rosé de Cuvaison NV, with a base of 2020, is a rich and vibrant expression of rosé Champagne crafted primarily from Pinot Noir. This cuvée is produced using the “cuvaison” method, where the juice undergoes a short maceration with the grape skins, imparting depth, color, and complexity. Known for its traditional approach, the Moutard family focuses on capturing the unique character of their vineyards in the Côte des Bar, resulting in a Champagne that balances robust fruit flavors with a refreshing, dry finish.

On the nose, this Brut Rosé offers enticing aromas of ripe red berries—such as raspberry, wild strawberry, and red currant—alongside hints of rose petal and a touch of citrus zest. The palate is generous and textured, showcasing flavors of cherry, blood orange, and a delicate minerality, with a fine, creamy mousse that adds elegance. The Brut dosage complements the fruit, enhancing the wine’s roundness while keeping the finish crisp and lively.

This Rosé Champagne pairs well with charcuterie, grilled salmon, or roasted poultry, making it a versatile choice for various occasions. The 2020 base brings a youthful vibrancy to the wine, making Moutard’s Rosé de Cuvaison a delightful option for those seeking a rosé Champagne with both character and approachability.

Moutard

Founded in the 1600s, this house on the far southern edge of Champagne specializes in the production of Pinot Noir from an ideal terroir featuring a mix of clay and bands of kimmeridgian limestone.

The wines are vinified in a traditional manner and emerge from the cellars with lovely aromas of red fruit, supple texture and a long, lingering finish. Moutard puts out impressive values across the board.

Champagne

Champagne boasts some of the world’s greatest luxury brands with Krug, Cristal and, of course, Dom Perignon. But it’s also home to hundreds of small dynamic producers—farmers who grow their own grapes (often organically) and make (often with natural methods) tiny amounts of pure and absolutely delicious wine that reflect the individual personalities of their villages and terroirs. Toast with these wines, for sure. But also treat them like the great wines they are: taste, drink, explore!
