Refined with blood orange, baking spice, mineral notes and even-handed oak, this is delicate and classic. While it's delicious now, it will really benefit from a few more years' cellaring.

Joseph Drouhin is, of course, one of the great names of Burgundy. A rare producer that makes fantastic wines across the whole range of prices. Their Musigny is one of Burgundy's most sought-after bottles. But their "everyday-priced" wines are some of the greatest values year in and year out. And in between those extremes, they have a whole range of perfectly terroir expressive wines that over-deliver for price, including gems like the legendary Cotes their Beaune Clos des Mouches, offering close to Grand Cru quality at decidedly lower prices.

Professional Reviews

"There is plenty of floral influence on the much less obviously spicy and admirably pure aromas of red and black fruit, warm earth and orange peel wisps. The racy, intense and beautifully delineated middle weight flavors exude a subtle minerality on the youthfully austere and mineral-driven finish. This could use better depth, but more should reasonably develop with a few years of bottle aging."

"The 2020 Beaune Grèves 1er Cru was quite closed on the nose which made it difficult to read. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly grainy tannins. Good weight, darker fruit than other cuvées, the 20% whole cluster imparting spicy/peppery notes on the finish. Excellent. This is a sense of classicism that I admire here." -Vinous

Robert Parker

"Aromas of sweet berries, potpourri, warm spices and orange rind introduce Drouhin's 2020 Beaune 1er Cru Les Grèves, a medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated Pinot Noir that's taut and chalky, deriving from the thin soils and steep slopes of lieu-dit Sur le Grèves." -Robert Parker

Focus On: Burgundy

Burgundy has long been the world's most famous wine region. But, underneath all the prestige, this region can be hard to get to know.

While Burgundy offers many great trophies from top producers in well-known villages like Vosne Romanee and Puligny Montrachet, it also offers excellent values to anyone willing to explore beyond the famous names. Our collection– one of the largest in the U.S. – has plenty of both!

From the very basics of Burgundy's regions and wines to the specific terroirs of individual single vineyards--
everything you need to know about Bourgogne is just a click away!
