What is this wine?
Patrimony Cabernet Franc 2020 is a single-varietal, estate-grown wine from the Adelaida District of Paso Robles, crafted by Daniel and Georges Daou of DAOU Family Estates. Sourced from mountain vineyards at over 2,000 feet on calcareous limestone soils, this wine reflects the Daou brothers’ uncompromising pursuit of world-class Bordeaux-style reds. Hand-harvested fruit undergoes meticulous sorting, extended maceration, and aging for nearly two years in new French oak barrels, resulting in a wine of power, purity, and elegance.

Why get this wine?
Patrimony represents the pinnacle of Paso Robles terroir and precision winemaking. The 2020 Cabernet Franc showcases the varietal’s aromatic intensity and fine structure, rivaling top Right Bank Bordeaux while maintaining Paso’s lush fruit and mineral backbone. Critics consistently rank Patrimony among California’s elite—this is a collectible, ageworthy masterpiece for serious wine lovers.

What does this wine taste like?
Opulent yet refined, with aromas of violet, cassis, graphite, and cigar box. The palate is deep and layered, featuring blackberry, plum, cocoa, and herbs framed by velvety tannins and vibrant acidity. The finish is long, graceful, and impeccably balanced.

When should you drink this wine?
Best from 2025–2045. Decant for 2–3 hours when young to unlock its complexity. Ideal with filet mignon, lamb, or truffle dishes.

Professional Reviews

Robert Parker

RP 92
"The 2020 Cabernet Franc was matured for 30 months in 100% new French oak. It has become more rustic since its bottling, its scents of red and black currants and plums streaked with woodsmoke and dried herbs character. The full-bodied palate is easygoing, with soft tannins, rounded acidity and a concentrated core of tobacco-laced fruit. It's showing the challenges of the vintage, so drink it over the next few years." -Erin Brooks
