What is this wine?
Château Cap de Faugères is the sister estate to Château Faugères in Saint-Émilion, owned by Silvio Denz. Located just east of Saint-Émilion in the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, the vineyards share the same limestone-clay plateau that gives the Right Bank its hallmark elegance. The blend is predominantly Merlot, supported by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, crafted in a polished yet terroir-driven style. 2020 was an outstanding vintage, producing ripe but balanced wines across Bordeaux.
Why get this wine?
Cap de Faugères consistently delivers Saint-Émilion character at a fraction of the price. With the pedigree of a serious team and prime terroir, this 2020 combines depth, freshness, and immediate drinkability. For anyone seeking Right Bank Bordeaux value, this is a standout choice.
What does this wine taste like?
Medium to full-bodied, with ripe black cherry, plum, and blackberry layered with notes of violet, licorice, and graphite. Silky tannins and lively acidity give poise and length.
When should you drink this wine?
Excellent now with a short decant, but it will cellar comfortably through 2030. Perfect with roast chicken, lamb, or hearty mushroom dishes.
