Jász Laci is making natural wines on his small organic estate on Somló, Hungary’s smallest (and very distinctively volcanic) appellation in the western part of the country. The Basalt Juice is Jász Laci's name for his 2019 Juhfark.  This is a classic example of a Juhfark with age - integrated and savory, with flavors like peach, pear, and salt on the nose and palate. The finish is long and powerfully mineral.

More about Jasz Laci

On the volcanic slopes of Somló in western Hungary, Jász Laci experiments fearlessly: orange wines from forgotten varieties, Georgian-style maceration, minimal sulfur. He's a natural winemaker who happens to have studied winemaking formally, which gives his playfulness a foundation. Bold, weird, utterly committed.
